Andrew Gonzalez, of San Antonia, Texas, is another award-winning figurative artist whose works appear in the Images of Eyes Gallery. His visionary acrylic paintings depict the dramatic union of the sensual and celestial, and is inspired by Western and Eastern esoteric symbolic imagery and mystical dream experiences. Andrew is self-taught and has had no formal training. The paintings are created with airbrushed acrylics on panel or canvas. Forms, values and highlighting are created by lifting pigment with an abrasive eraser, followed by the application of transparent layers of pigment. A model is used for figure development. Andrew won the "Best of Show" award in the "100 Sacred Visions" exhibition held in July-August 2000 at The Austellung, Payerbach, Austria. The exhibition explored the spiritual in art and focused on the unifying spirit behind the diversity of humankind. Its juror was renowned artist Prof. Philip Rubinov-Jacobson, MFA, faculty member of the graduate program at Vermont College, Norwich University. All of Andrew's major works were recently sold to a collector in Rhode Island, United States. A more detailed biography can be read at Andrew's website.
